Description
The Jacaranda is a genus of tropical and subtropical trees and shrubs native to the Americas, famous for their spectacular, long-lasting clusters of trumpet-shaped, lavender-blue flowers. The most common species is the Jacaranda mimosifolia (Blue Jacaranda).
- Appearance: They have delicate, fern-like (bipinnate) leaves and vibrant, violet-blue or mauve blooms.
- Climate & Sun: They thrive in warm climates (USDA Zones 10-12) and require a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
- Watering: Young trees need consistent watering (1-2 times a week), but once established, they become highly drought-tolerant.
- Blooming: Depending on your location, they bloom brilliantly in the spring or late summer, often dropping a beautiful purple carpet on the ground.
